Japanese Ceramic Pottery Vase by Suzuki Kiyoshi
A wonderful square white glazed Art-Deco influenced pottery vase by Suzuki Kiyoshi dating circa 1940 enclosed in the original signed wooden box. A spray of flowers in iron brown alternates with repeated gourds over the crackled cream colored glaze. The vase is roughly 6 inches (15 cm) on all sides, and is certainly larger in presence than it sounds with thick heavy walls. It is similar in patterning to a piece submitted by the artist to the Nitten National Exhibition in 1942, and we believe it to be circa that era.
