| A flaring form decorated with iron florals between latticework pillars on a foot of petal-like frets by Kiyomizu Rokube V enclosed in the original wooden box. The piece very much represents the artist and his time, expressing concisely the movement in design in the dawning years of the 20th century. It is stamped on the base with a hand made silver hoya lid of high quality. The piece is 4-1/2 inches (11 cm) tall, 5 inches (13cm) diameter and in fine condition. The Rokebei family is one of the most important in the Kyoto ceramic tradition. The piece is possibly the work of Kiyomizu Rokube IV (Rokuko, 1847-1920) or more likely his successor Rokube V (Rokuwa, 1874-1959). | |||||||||||
