| A fine maki-e wood writing box with silver rim decorated with autumn grasses in various colors and shades of nashiji sprinkled gold on ro-iro highly polished black. It was made in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the founding of Hitachi Avionics and likely dates circa 1940, signed inside the lid by the artist in the lower left corner of the inscription. Inside the box is the original ink stone held by a lattice of black lacquered wood. The box is in excellent condition enclosed in the original wooden box and has been professionally cleaned and polished. It measures 8-1/2 by 10 by 1-1/2 inches (21.5 x 26 x 3 cm). A fine example of fine-art from a time when quality was paramount. | ||||||||||||
