| This is a wonderful early heraldic piece designed by Mogens Ballin of Denmark. Ballin is known his Skonvirke style jewelry and many well known artisans started in his studios, including Georg Jensen. This pin has the insignia of the "Grandfather of Europe", King Christian IX of Denmark who reigned from 1818 to 1906. This commemorative piece is 2 1/8" in diameter and has 4 hematite cabochon accents. The piece is in very good condition, but the original closure has been professionally replaced. It is hallmarked "Ballin 826S" on the reverse. | ||||||
