Hiroki Oda (Japanese, b. 1914. A gorgeous mid-century museum-quality oil painting by this well known Japanese artist. Provenance: Galerie Nichido, Tokyo, Japan. Measures 16 1/2 x 14 inches (image size). Framed for total size of 25 x 22 1/2 inches. Framed under glass. (Please note: work will be shipped without glass to ensure safe arrival.) Provenance: Galerie Nichido, Ginza, Tokio (Tokyo) (label on verso). Medium: oil on canvas. Condition: Excellent. Signed lower left, "Hiroki Oda." Dated on gallery label on verso, 1964 (possibly 1969). Frame and glass with light wear. Hiroki Oda is one of Japan's most respected artists. A similar work by Oda recently sold for $13,207 (Lot 145, 1/27/2007, Shinwa Art Auction). This is is a museum quality painting; offered at far below what you would find in any gallery. SHIPPING IS $50 IN THE USA. INTERNATIONAL SHIPPIN IS $90 FOR SUROPE/ JAPAN. Please inquire for shipping rates to other locations. Artist Bio: Hiroki Oda was born in the village of Senju in 1914. As a young man he enrolled in the Japan School of Art; graduating from their Western Painting Department in 1939, and soon afterwards participated in the Nika Art Exhibition to much critical acclaim. In 1960 he moved to France and participated in numouers showings across the country. Throughout the 1960's he made frequent trips between France and Japan, and received-among numerous awards-the Prime Minister's Award. In 1992 he received the Japanese Art Academy Award, the prestigious Imperial Gift Award.
