| The contrast of the smooth, dark sheen of the face with the light, dusty grey of the hair is a compelling feature of this well cast bronze head. Cast in Thailand about 30 years ago, it is in a style that originated during the Ayutthaya Kingdom (1350-1757), characterized by the full serene face with delicate eyebrows, slightly flared nostrils and well defined lips with the hint of a smile. Tightly curled hair in small spirals covers the head and unisha. The removable filial is an unadorned lotus bud. It is mounted on a removable metal stand 8" wide by 9" deep, and is in excellent condition. Dimensions: height with base 20" (51 cm), height without base 17" (43 cm), width 8" (20 cm), depth 9" (23 cm). | |||||||||||
