| A high handle with both pierced and relief carving is lacquered in red and black with touches of gilt on this 19th century Chinese teacup box. Items associated with tea drinking in China often were red, the color of joy, and were handsomely designed and decorated. The front half of the lid lifts off so that handle-less teacups could be stacked and carried in the container. This box has a nice patina and is in very good condition. Dimensions: height 12-1/2" (32 cm), width 11-1/2" (29 cm), depth 13" (33 cm). | |||||||||||
