| Opera scenes are painted on either side of this dark moss green octagonal Qing trunk. Blue flowers decorate the ends under the metal carrying handles, and a long life symbol is painted on the lid. One of the scenes depicts a meeting of three officials, and the other shows a Chinese gentleman proffering a large butterfly to a woman gazing out a round window. This charming example of the wood trunks that were used in Chinese households to store shoes is the perfect size for use as a small side table. It is from the late 19th century, solidly constructed and in good condition. Dimensions: height 15" (38 cm), width 22-1/2" (57 cm), depth 17-1/2" (45 cm). | |||||||||||||
