Large Framed Brush Painting, River View
Nearly five feet wide, this traditional Chinese brush painting on rice paper is soft and peaceful, with misty mountains backing a riverbank panorama of ancient structures and Springtime green trees. Painted during the latter part of the 20th century, the riverside scene is anchored on the traditional architecture of a hilltop temple. A stone bridge leads to the hill, with boats moored below the temple. Riverside activity at the left of the painting is balanced by a roofed stone gate and stone walls on the right. The artist's seal and calligraphy is at upper left but we have been unable to identify him/her. This work is matted with silk and framed with a traditional simple Asian frame. It is in excellent condition. Dimensions: height 32-1/2" (83 cm), width 58-1/2" (149 cm).
