Our Specialty
Thomas K Libby, located in Historic South Norwalk, CT specializes in traditional Japanese ceramics and Arts and Crafts era pottery, Chinese porcelain, and Western art pottery of Asian influence. Our Gallery holds by far the largest collection of ceramics from Awaji Island, Japan, as well as a collection of related pottery from the city of Kyoto. These Japanese pottery styles are thought to have had a profound influence on the aesthetic and art pottery movements in the West. The Awaji pottery, known as Awaji ware, is admired for its bright colors, robust shapes, and creatively incised, painted, and applied decoration.
Thomas K Libby has grown out of the original business known as The Studio, specializing in ceramics restoration and sales. As the collection grew, our business has evolved into both a Gallery and a Ceramics Restoration Studio, open Tuesday through Saturday from 11am to 5pm, Sunday and Monday by appointment or by chance. Please feel free to call us for additional offerings.
