These lovely earrings cleverly designed as a flower head with cascading leaves, are Georgian circa 1830. They were made of faceted, polished steel heads which were then riveted into a metal back plate. This laborious process created a striking pair of earrings that glistened with a distinctive gray hue in the candlelit rooms. They have a classical three section design which freely articulate. They are well proportioned, measuring 2 1/2 inches from the top of the wire X 1/2 across. They are in excellent, bright condition. The original wires have been replaced with gold shepherd hooks. English or French origin, circa 1830 |
