This 15k heart pendant is Scottish, circa 1880. I have featured hearts like this before on the site, as well as my cover page. since they are among my favorite items of jewelry. So refined and elegant, they represent the best in design and execution. This heart is a smoky quartz, cut and finely shaped by a lapidary. It is surmounted by a gold crown set with pearls,two faceted rubies and four faceted emeralds. The gold is hand engraved and decorated with fleur de lys. The pendant measures 2 1/4 inches long from the top x 1 inch across. The 14k antique chain which has been joined to the pendant is appropriate in age and patina. The chain is beautiful and substantial at 11 dwt. and measures 16 inches. It has a lovely barrel clasp with three faint initials. This heart is all original and in excellent condition. It is as relevant to today's style, as it was when it was originally designed. It is simply beautiful. |
