| This French enamel necklace is circa 1900. The design is wonderful, and the color play dramatic and elegant. The necklace is vermeil, a term used to describe silver with a gold wash. The silver work is finely executed with exceptionally fine spiral wire work. Even the bezels surrounding the cabachon turquoise stones are detailed. The back is well done as expected of French craftsmanship, and there is even evidence of white enamel on the back of each white flower. The drops which articulate add a dramatic dimension. The two end plaques which serve as the connecting clasp have no drops, possibly removed for ease of wear. The condition is excellent with minor wear to the enamel. It has French touchmarks on the clasp and measures 16 inches long by 1 7/8 including the drops. This is a necklace that graces all seasons. | ||||||||
