This 18k French ring is circa 1840. This folk ring is from the region of Auvergne, in the center of France. It is more unusual finding a ring from this region, as pendants were more plentiful. This beautiful example is designed with stones that are all foil back to reflect light, and then set in hand crimped cut down mounts. The foiling was used to enhance the light, since the stones were set in closed back settings. The work is finely executed, and the color combination very mellow. The ring is completely original including the beautifully molded shank. There is a French touchmark on the shank visible in the photo 0223. The central citrine measures a large 1 cm long x 7 cm across. The citrines measure 6 cm. All three stones are bright and beautiful. The ring measures 6.5 US. This is an elegant ring in excellent condition. |
