| Incredibly lovely opal and diamond ring, circa 1910. It is designed as a navette shaped cabachon opal set in a fine millegrain yellow gold bezel. The large cabachon opal is surrounded by well cut European diamonds set in platinum. The reverse has lovely pierced yellow gold work. The central element measures a sizeable 7/8 inches x 5/8 across. Perhaps the most beautiful detail is the choice of opal. It is a translucent water opal,subtle in color with tiny flashes of green,lavender,gold,turquoise and rose. The opal measures 3/4 inches l x 1/2 wide. The entire composition is refined elegance. It measures 5 3/4 US. Truly wonderful. | |||||||||||
