| This antique moonstone ring is circa 1880. It is set with a finely carved moonstone head of a young woman. Moonstones, prized for their beautiful glow, are well represented in this ring. The stone illuminates as light passes though the stone and gives it an ethereal presence. Rings with carved moonstones of this period commonly had a Man in the Moon motif and have also been poorly reproduced. Finding this carving and in original,excellent condition is a pleasure. The rose gold is 9k and the stone is set in a fine,decorative claw mount. The central element measures 1/2 inches long x slightly less than 1/2 inches across. The ring is a 4 1/2 US and can be sized by a competent jeweler. It would also be beautiful worn as a pinky ring. | |||||||
