This incredibly lovely antique moonstone pendant is circa 1890. It is silver topped gold designed with moonstones,diamonds and a central emerald. The play of color is very beautiful and the emerald green enhances the blue of the moonstones. The cabachon cut, clear blue moonstones are gem quality, exhibiting that mystical hue called adularescence. Each moonstone is set in hand crimped, rub over collets. The diamonds and emerald are prong set. The diamonds surrounding the emerald are rose cuts and the three drops have old European cut diamonds that are approximately 8pts. each. The central emerald is approximately 1.67 cts. The emerald and the moonstones have natural inclusions and slight surface wear visible under a loop. The pendant/ brooch has fittings which allow it to be worn both ways. The top has a fold down bail if the wearer desires it to be used as a brooch. It measures a long and dramatic 2 1/2 inches x 1 1/4 inches across. It is beautifully designed, in excellent condition and completely original. |
