How lovely and unique to find this antique garnet, turquoise and pearl bracelet circa 1850. It is cleverly designed to replicate a twisted ribbon terminating in bow. The details and execution set this apart from others of the same period. Notice the alternating rows of color set at angles and the central bow having realistic folds. The folds too are studded with stones on the interior. The pearls are all natural and provide a delicate balance of color. This bracelet is not to be confused with later 1880 Bohemian garnet jewelry. This is a unique design rendered by a skilled artisan. Each stone is graduated and set with tiny button prongs that are almost invisible to the eye. The garnets are rose cuts and the turquoise are cabachon. The bracelet measures 6 3/4 inches around x 1 /8 high. It will comfortably fit an average wrist. It opens and closes with a secure push clasp. The metal is garnet gold, very low carat with a rose hue. The gold is seen only on the interior of the bracelet. The safety chain was added to the bracelet at a later date. The condition is excellent with commensurate wear on the gold. An early solder repair on the interior, otherwise fine. The turquoise have a natural, beautiful variation of color expected of early gems. It is wearable and quite unique. |
