| These earrings are most unusual in their motif. They are Scottish, circa 1880, and are rendered in 15k gold. They are designed as a traditional Tara form more often found on brooches of this period. They have a magnificent ,original gold patina and are in excellent condition. The gold work is superior with beautiful applied wire work. They measure 1 3/8 long from the top wire x 7/8 across. They are the perfect size for everyday wear and are ideal to accompany most antique design periods as well as modern jewelry. The condition is excellent and and they are all original. The reverse has lightly etched 15k carat gold. A jeweler at some point in the life of these earrings must have added this to confirm the carat as antique jewelry often did not have a carat mark. The tiny hole seen in the backs are not damages, but found on Victorian jewelry to allow for air to escape during the manufacturing process. Elegant, light on the ear and so very wearable. Scotland, circa 1880 | ||||||||
