Great pair of cubist urban industrial scenes by highly renowned 20th century designer, Donald Deskey (1894-1989). Deskey was trained as a painter, but arose to International recognition when he was selected to design the interior of Radio City Music Hall in the late 1920s, just as the Art Deco movement was gaining momentum. He went on to become a top designer of furnishings in the Machine Age style; surviving examples have become icons of Art Deco. ...click for details

Great 10" x 12" oil on board depicting trawler docking in a Louisiana bayou with Spanish moss laden tree to the left, by listed artist Werner Hoehn (1882-1940); excellent Southern US imagery, this piece dates to circa 1920. In very good original condition in original frame; needs a cleaning to remove grime that has accumulated over time. Partial tag on the reverse from Parrish Art Store in New Orleans.

24" x 30" oil on canvas of misty sunrise landscape by highly listed National Academy artist Eliot Candee Clark (1883-1980); probably late 1930s; signed lower left, in excellent condition. This is a good size canvas for Clark, and done in a beautiful light impressionist palette; reminiscent of his training in New York with John Twachtmann.

Great satirical 19" x 15 1/4" oil on board depicting French clergy member clasping a pageworn copy of Emile Zola's "Nana", and waving a finger of admonition. He is shown with spectacles propped on his head, and a bee/wasp on the bridge of his nose. This painting dates to the 1880s or 1890s; shortly after the 1880 publication of Nana, with its controversial themes of prostitution and poverty. ...click for details

6 1/4" x 4 1/2" oil on thin wood panel (slightly curved) depicting bust portrait of woman with ruff, black dress, and cape, probably Flemish, ca. 1580-1620. Its style is reminiscent of Lucas Cranach (1472-1553); possibly by a follower. There are no markings on the front that I can discern. It is in good condition with no splitting to the board, but there is scattered inpainting particularly to the black dress; some as well to the ruff and back of the hair. 18th century 16" x 13" grisaille oil on canvas after Anthony Van Dyck's "The Coronation of St. Rosalie", depicting Rosalia, the patroness saint of Palermo, at the feet of the Virgin Mary, being crowned by the baby Jesus upon her entry to Heaven. Van Dyck (1599-1641) was originally commissioned to paint this work as an altarpiece for the Confraternity of Bachelors in Antwerp in 1628.
