An unusual Satsuma koro decorated in prominently green enamel with gosu blue, other enamels and gilt with lakeside scenes. There is a full signature to the base.

Dating from the 2nd half of the C19th., it stands 3 3/8inches (9.9 cms) high with lid.

The base has a barely visible glaze crack on rim. The lid is damaged and restuck (see photos).

A Japanese vase potted in a soft satsuma style pottery body and decorated with birds in reserves on a blue/green and black ground. There is a key fret design in slip below the neck. It is signed to the base Tanzan.

Dating from c1900, it stands 5 inches (12.5 cms) high.

It is in good condition.

A charming Japanese vase decorated with cloisonne on a pottery body (Totai shippo). This is an extremely difficult ceramic technique which lasted for only a few years in the early Meiji period.

Dating from the mid C19th., it stands 5 inches (12.7 cms) high.

It is in good condition.

A Satsuma globular vase decorated in coloured enamels and gilt with bijin in reserves on a cobalt blue and gilt ground. There is a 4 character mark to the base.

Dating from c.1900, it stands 7 1/2inches (19 cms) high.

There are two firing faults to the footrim which are original and glazed over and an adjacent miniscule glaze chip(See photo). There is wear to the gilding on the blue reserves. It is in otherwise good condition.

A very unusual Japanese Satsuma style pottery figure of Kannon (Kwannon or Chinese Guanyin) sitting upon a recumbent elephant. It is modelled with an open base with separate hands and feet in the fashion of C18th chinese porcelain. It is covrered with a finely crackled glaze and painted in famille rose enamels.

I can not date this accurately, but I think it is mid C19th. and possibly earlier. It stands 9 3/4inches (24.5cms) high and 7 inches (18cms) across the base.

There is damage to all digits of her right hand and the thumb of her left hand. She is in very good condition.

A Japanese kogo (Box and cover) decorated in imperial satsuma colours on a typical creamy pottery body. It is painted with immortals flying on cranes and has a sealmark signature painted on the base.

Dating from the 2nd half of the C19th., it measures 6 inches across and 3 1/4inches high.

There is some minor discolouration to the exterior and worse staining to the inside rim of the base.

Dating from the mid C19th., it stands nearly 8 1/2inches high.

There is some minor wear. It is in good condition.

A fine quality satsuma ewer decorated in imperial quality enamels and raised gilding. I have seen references to similar signed Yabu Meizan. However, this one is unsigned.It has an old paper label to the base.

Dating from the 2nd half of the C19th., it stands 5 1/2inches high.

There is a small chip to the rim, a miniscule frit to the spout and some minor atmospheric staining.

Dating from the C19th., it stands 2 3/4inches high and 4 inches across.

It is in good condition. There is some minor staining to the inside and wear to the gilding on the exterior. It would have had a lid

A Japanese pottery vase of Satsuma type with a characteristic crackle glaze and profusely decorated in enamels and gilt with figures in panels on a brocade ground. It bears a 9 character mark and Satsuma mon to the base.

Dating from the 2nd half of the C19th., it stands 3 5/8inches high.

There is minor wear to the gilding and a small chip to the mouth restuck quite cleanly.(see photo)
