A very unusual Japanese cliosonne vase decorated with coloured enamels and gilt bronze wires. The wires stand proud of the enamels which would make the manufacture an extremely difficult process (The surfaces are usually ground down to an even, smooth surface.)Dating to the second half of the C19th., it stands 6 inches high. There is a very small dent at the footrim which has caused a miniscule surface flake to the enamel (see photo) and some pitting (original). It is in very good condition.
