A charming figure of Hotei carrying his sack and holding a fan. It is modelled from fine white Hirado clay and painted in soft enamels and gilt.There is an impressed Mount Fuji mark to the base. Dating from the early C20th., he stands 4 3/4inches (12.1 cms) high. He would probably have had a bamboo pole through the hole in his hand and sack. He is in excellent condition.

A Japanese bowl fashioned from a fine white Hirado clay in the form of a seagull. It has a Fukagawa mark to the base. Dating from the early C20th., it measures 5 1/2inches (14 cms) long). It is in excellent condition.

A fine Japanese moulded porcelain foliate plate decorated in the Imari style. It has a Koransha orchid mark in underglaze blue to the base. Dating from the 2nd half of the C19th., it measures 8 5/8inches (21.9 cms) across. There is some minor surface & gilding wear. It is in very good condition.

A fine, highly translucent Arita porcelain tea bowl decorated in red, green, yellow, aubergine and black enamels and gilt with Bijin taking tea. Dating from c.1680, it measures 2 7/8inches (7.4 cms) across. There is a little wear to the rim gilding. It is in, otherwise, very good condition. See Sothebys 22/3/90 lot 62

A very finely decorated Kutani porcelain saki or tea bowl. It is quite thickly potted. Probably dating from the 1st quarter of the C20th, it measures 3 1/8inches (7.9cms) across. There is one minor potting flaw near the base (Decorated over- see photo 4.). It is in excellent condition.

Japanese porcelain bowl and cover covered in a flambe glaze. The base of the cover has a 4 character mark on a white ground (Kosaki Kozan?) and its interior has a "dry" ring burnt orange in the firing. Dating from c.1900, it stands 3 1/8inches (8 cms) high. It is in very good condition

A fine Japanese porcelain bowl from the Fukagawa workshops decorated in underglaze blue, red enamel and gilt with the bamboo grove pattern.Both the bowl and the cover are marked. Dating from c.1900, the bowl measures 4 3/4inches (12.1 cms) across the rim. There is wear to the rim gilding. It is in very good condition.

A finely modelled porcelain model of a seated musician covered in a thick, even and well controlled celadon glaze. The head and hands left unglazed and burned orange in the firing. There is an impressed mark to the base. Probably dating to the 2nd half of the C19th,. it stands 5 inches (12.7 cms) high. It is cracked and crazed but it is complete with no restoration. Whilst I do not know the mark, I am sure this must have been made by a master potter.
