An unusual Japanese porcelain plate boldly decorated to the front in underglaze blue, red and green enamels and gilt with a writhing dragon inside a moulded border. There is a six character Yongzheng mark to the base. A similar plate is illustrated in Irene Finch's "Lost Century Porcelain". She dates this to the second half of the C18th although the influence is definately Chinese Yongzheng period (1723-35).It measures 8 1/4inches (21.1 cms) across. There is a significant chip to the rim but no associated or other hairlines. There is kiln grit in the glaze on the front.
