SOLD 

A chinese bronze censer of squat tripod form with everted, banded rim. It has a 4 character Xuande mark carved in the base. The interior has not been turned off and still shows the shape of the moulding process. (Usually there will be turning marks inside censers of this type and age.)

Dating from the C17/18th., it measures 4 7/8inches (12.3 cm) across and weighs 830 gms.

It has been polished. There are surface shrinkage marks. (see photos)

A chinese soft paste (Huashi) porcelain vase painted in underglaze blue with a floral design.

Dating from the mid C18th., it stands 7 3/4inches (19.7 cm) high

There is a small section re-stuck to the rim. There is some usual light crazing that is common with this body. It is in otherwise good condition.

SOLD 

A chinese vase or jar painted in famille verte enamels in reserves on a powder blue ground in the Kangxi style. There are 2 concentric circles in underglaze blue to the base. The neck has been left unglazed to take a lid.

Dating from the C19th., it stands 5 3/4inches (14.6 cmd) high.

It is in excellent condition.

A pair of chinese porcelain plates painted in famille rose enamels with a peony and phoenix in a proto-nonya style. Each has a square seal mark in a circle to the base.

Dating from the Yongzheng/ early Qianlong period, they measure 8 1/4inches (21 cms) across.

PLATE 1: Some fritting/ very minor chips but no hairline.

PLATE 2 Some fritting, no chips and a faint hairline.

A pair of chinese soft paste porcelain plates painted in very fine detail in underglaze blue with lakeside pagodas. Soft paste porcelain is uncommon and was far more expensive to produce. The fine detail of the painting is astonishing (study photos).

Dating from the mid C18th (Qianlong), they each measure 9 1/2inches (24.2 cm) max across.

PLATE 1: has frits/ small chips to the rim but no cracks.

PLATE 2: has a couple of small chips and related short, faint hairlines.

A chinese porcelain hexagonal bowl with straight sides and a high footrim moulded with trigrams and painted in rouge de fer and gilt. The interior and base glazed turquoise. There is a 6 character Tongzhi sealmark to the base.

Dating from the Tongzhi period (1862-74), it measures 5 3/4inches (14.6 cm) max across.

There is some wear to the interior enamel and a small chip to the rim.

A pair of chinese vases/jars decorated in underglaze blue with the popular prunus or hawthorn pattern. Each has a 4 character Kangxi mark to the base.

Dating from the C19th., they stand 5 inches (12.7cm) high.

They are in good condition. Minor firing fault (photo 12). They would have had lids.

A chinese porcelain tea caddy of rectangular form with canted corners and painted in underglaze blue with a floral design. The base and collar unglazed.

Dating from the Kangxi period (early C18th.), it stands 4 inches (10.1 cm) high.

There is a firing fault to the base (photo 9) and significant fritting.

A small chinese soft paste (huashi) porcelain foliate dish beautifully painted in underglaze blue and in great detail with birds, flowers and rock work.

Dating from the mid C18th., it measures 4 3/4inches (12.1 cm) across.

There are a few miniscule frits and a couple of hairlines to the glaze (not through the body) which is typical of Huashi ware.

SOLD 

An unusual set of 4 shaped porcelain tiles painted in underglaze blue with stylised dragons in archaistic style. I am not sure whether they were originally the sides of a box or the end tiles of 2 screen panels. They are each hand cut and have fired orange on the unglazed edges.

I am selling them as C18/19th. although they could be earlier. They are 5 1/4inches (13.3 cm) long.

They are in good condition.
