A pair of chinese bells cast in bronze. I do not have the expertise to date them accurately but am confident that they are C18th. or probably earlier. They have a good patination.
Each bell stands 3 inches high and has 3 very small holes cast or bored into them.(Original)
A pair of japanese porcelain figures of a male and female with brooms. Dating from the late C19th they stand 4.9inches(woman) and 5.2inches (man) high.
Made at the Kutani kilns, I think these two represent specific characters in japanese folk lore, but I am not an expert on this.
There is some faint crazing to the enamels (not unusual) on the man . They are both in very good condition.
A japanese fan or face screen handle / holder made from a strongly grained wood and decorated in gold lacquer and shibayama (Inlaid stones and mother of pearl). Dating from the mid C19th., it measures 6 inches long.
It would originally held a fixed, single fan leaf which would fit in the slot shown in photo. There is some wear to the gold lacquer but it is in otherwise good condition.
A very fine burmese silver buckle in high relief repousse work (hammered out from the back). Dating from the 2nd half of the C19th., it measures 2.6inches long and 1.3inches from top to bottom.This is a beautiful piece of silversmithing and is in excellent condition.
A plain and stylish card case with a sliding lid. It is made from thin sheets of horn secured by small brass nails. I am guessing that it ws manufactued in England.
Dating from the C19th., it measures 3.4inches across. There is some minor wear/blemishes (see photos) but it is in geneally very good condition.
A chinese porcelain handled cup decorated in famille verte enamels.
Dating from the 1st. half of the C18th., it stands over 3 inches high.There are some very minor bubble bursts and pieces of grit in the glaze, all original (see photos)
A chinese porcelain stem-cup decorated in famille rose enamels probably for the islamic middle east market. Dating from c.1800, it stands 3.2inches high.
There are 2 significant cracks to the bowl.The iron red decoration in the cartouches is faint and the gilding on the foot is worn.
