A very fine carved hardwood box, cover and tray. Each piece is carved out of a single piece of wood and not joined. I originally thought it was chinese but the combination of box and tray like this suggests japanese. Probably dating from the early C20th., the box is 5 1/8inches (13.1 cm) long. It is in very good condition. |
