A Japanese pottery vase of Satsuma type with a characteristic crackle glaze and profusely decorated in enamels and gilt with figures in panels on a brocade ground. It bears a 9 character mark and Satsuma mon to the base. Dating from the 2nd half of the C19th., it stands 3 5/8inches high. There is minor wear to the gilding and a small chip to the mouth restuck quite cleanly.(see photo) |
