Japanese silver & bronze box . Signed . Meiji period
A very attractive Japanese box made from silver and wood with a bronze or other alloy top. The top is beautifully cast and engraved with a heron catching a fish amongst reeds. There is a 12 character inscription.

Dating from the last quarter of the C19th., it measures 5 1/2inches x 4 inches x 1 1/2inches.

The silver rim of the lid is separating slightly (I have pulled it a little in the photo to show), and there are some dents to the silver. It is still in reasonable condition and displays well.
