This is a fabulous Modernist 14k yellow gold and obsidian necklace by Kaunis Koru, Finland, c. 1971. The necklace measures 17" and the obsidian drop is 1 5/8" x 3/4" x 1/2" deep. I believe the stone is obsidian, however, it has a deep mauve glow when it catches the light, which is unusual - it is not as dark as one usually associates with obsidian - I would describe it as a medium to dark gray with white streaks out of the light and in the light it reflects a soft purple or ...click for details
