| This beautiful hand made matching "mirrored" (balanced individual opposites) pair of Chinese cloisonne vases with lids features blue song birds atop the blossoming cherry tree. Each vase is individually and artistically hand executed by a master craftsman and are therefore unique - not copies of each other (like two left feet)but balanced individual opposites. Nor are they copies of any others. Cloisonne is a process by which very delicate minutely thin tiny brass metal filaments (which form the cloisons or separating elements) are attached/soldered at right angles to the surface of the vase outlining the design to be used. These miniature compartments are filled with different colored enamels in paste form, and the object is then fired at extremely high temperatures in order to fuse the enamel to the surface and develop its transparency and permanent colors. This process of filling and firing has to be repeated many many times, once for each color. Approximate dimensions of each vase: 10" h. X 5" round. | |||||||||||
