This is a very pretty antique victorian silver plated knife rest I brought back from England recently. It has ends like a fancy andiron with a heart top and a barley twist bar. The knife rest dates to 1890-1910 and measures 3 inches long, 1.25 inches high, 2 inches wide and is in excellent condition. Knife rests were a victorian invention to keep the table cloth clean. This is a great pair of sterling silver sugar tongs with claw ends made by Wm.B.Durgin of Concord, New Hampshire USA. I believe the pattern is called Chatham. The marks or the D for Durgin, Sterling Pat'd and the tongs date 1900-1920. The box has a gothic engraved initial C, I think. The tongs measure 3.75 inches long and would add elegance to any tea table.

This is a fabulous and difficult to find antique English victorian open salt, salt dip or salt cellar made of silver plated cast metal dating to 1880-1900. We brought it home from England last trip. The open salt is 1.75 inches high and 2 inches wide and features a shell shape dish supported by a dolphin. The dip was cast in 2 pieces and then assembled. The salt dip is marked 3337 and a W.
