It originally held shortbread but alas, is empty. You can fill it up I'm sure. The tin measures 8.5 inches high by 9.25 inches wide by 2.5 inches deep and is in excellent mint condition. The hallmarked sterling silver and all over heavily embellished hand chased repousse castle design has a different scene each side and is marked with the lion for sterling, head, date letter for 1835 and the anchor for Birmingham. The maker's mark is TandP for Taylor and Parry, a well known maker of exceptional quality small silver items during the second quarter of the 19th century. The lidded cylinder box made by the Wedgwood pottery in Barlaston, Staffordshire, England in 1950s and measures 4.25 inches high by 3 inches in diameter. These covered boxes can be used for candy, cigarettes, cotton balls or, in one case I know of for a pet's ashes.
