This swirled white stoneware pie vent, pie bird or pie funnel was made in the late Victorian period and dates to the 1890-1900s. The pie vent was made in Staffordshire England most probably and I got it in the Staffordshire England Potteries district district recently. The pie vent measures 3.5 inches high by 2.5 inches in diameter and is in very good condition. There is some light staining inside as it was obviously used. A fun piece. And practical! Pie birds were developed in the 1500s to release steam from a baking pie so the filling didn't boil over.
Shipping in the US by USPS priority insured is $8.90.
