This is a silverplate Victorian vesta matchsafe or match holder from England with a beautiful hand engraved flower design on one side. The vestas or match holder (names for a brand of wax coated early matches) measures approximately 2 inches high by 1.5 inches wide. It has a ring attached for hanging on a watch chain or chatelaine. There is a place for a monogram but it is blank. The matchsafe is in very good condition with very slight wear to the plate on the back. It is marked with a crown and EPNS. It dates to 1890-1910. Lovely! Shipping in the US by USPS priority insured.
