Antique Pie Vent English Pie Funnel Pie Bird Porcelain

This antique white porcelain pie vent, pie bird or pie funnel was made in the late Victorian or early Edwardian period and dates to the 1890-1910. The pie vent measures 3 inches high by 1.25 inches in diameter and was made in Staffordshire, England and I got it in the Potteries district recently. The pie vent is unusual as it is porcelain and not stoneware and is in very good condition but does have a chipped rim. There is some crusting around the chimney as it was obviously used. A fun piece. And practical! Pie birds were developed in the 1500s to release steam from a baking pie so the filling didn't boil over. Shipping in the US by USPS priority insured is $7.90.
