Antique Sugar Tongs English Sterling Silver Small

This is a dainty pair of victorian English hallmarked sterling silver sugar tongs, sugar nips or saccharine tongs with spoon ends. This set of small tongs is hallmarked for Birmingham, England 1900 with the maker's mark JG. Saccharine tongs or small sugar tongs were used for the artificial sweetner that was quite popular in the late victorian period until being banned in 1911 as a menace to health.
