This is an antique glazed porcelain plate made by W. T. Copeland, England and marked for 1882 in a design influenced by China Export china. The plate has a black transferware oriental design of a jar holding a floral bouquet and a border of Chinese symbols and a basket work or lattice design. The chinoiserie design has been hand colored and a metallic luster has been added to the jar and around the border designs. The plate has a rarely seen W. T. Copeland ribbon printed mark as well as the impressed Copeland mark and the date code for 1882. The plate is in very good +++ condition with no chips or cracks but with a few minor utensil marks and wear to the red rim. A wonderful example of the victorian love of the Chinese designs. Shipping in the US by USPS priority insured.
