| This is a wonderful albeit politically incorrect victorian children's playing card game called Happy Families. The antique card game is in it's original box featuring Master Tar the Seaman's Son on the front. The box measures 1 inch high by 4.25 long by 3 inches wide and has 35 cardstock cards and no suit marks making it a very early deck. The first was produced for the Great Exhibition of 1851. The cards depict families identified by occupation in late victorian dress. Included are Master Hose The Fireman's Son setting fire to his sister's dolly and dollhouse. The cards have minor discoloration and are in very good ++ condition. 2 cards are marked with a pen in tiny letters at the top Old Maid and Doctor Doctor. The box is in good condition but does have staining and discoloration and edge wear. A rare survival of the victorian children's game genre and the source of much merriment among children and parents for years. Shipping bu USPS priority insured. | |||||||||
