| This is a vintage sugar shaker, muffineer or sugar caster made by premier English silversmiths Mappin And Webb, Ltd, England for the steamship and cruise ship line P & O Lines and dating to 1899-1908. The lighthouse shape sugar shaker measures 6.5 inches high, 2.75 inches in diameter at bottom and is made of nickel silver. The sugar shaker is in very good ++ condition with a good tight screw closure, but there are several dents...3 of which look like someone hit it with a dinner knife to call the room to attention! It would be a lovely accent to any table or shelf or use it! Sugar shakers or muffineers were used by the victorians to shake crushed or powdered sugar on their muffins or crumpets at tea. Shipping in the US by USPS priority insured. | ||||||||
