Nash Acanthus Vase - Tiffany Favrile
The epitome of Art Nouveau, this vase’s form and striking décor follow in the footsteps of Tiffany’s best works in Favrile glass. It was skillfully shaped into an elegantly footed vase bearing Nash's patented "FLUME" or Acanthus Leaf pattern. The base glass is a striking golden yellow covered in iridescent blue, green and gold highlights. This piece is in excellent condition with a few open bubbles on the interior which do not detract from its beauty. It has a fire-polished rim, polished pontil and measures 4 ¾ inches Tall x 4in. Diameter. From its signature, we can deduce that it was a low production numbered piece made between 1929-1931(see Arwas p 238 for details) Overall, this vase has everything a collector could want in a rare piece of American Art Glass. Some references to its origin can be located in Glass Art Nouveau to Art Deco by Victor Arwas and in books on Tiffany Favrile. When pieces of this quality become available they usually appear in the major N.Y. auction houses for sale in their art glass auctions at vastly higher prices!
