Loetz Phanomen Gre 166 Onion Form Vase
This onion form vase is an early example of the Phanomen Gre 166 décor by Loetz, circa 1898. This beautiful example, reminiscent in form and decoration of works by Tiffany, showcases the decor by highlighting the pattern with a highly uncommon engraved outline of the decoration. This vase is in very fine condition with no chips or cracks. It stands 10" tall and is 3 1/2" at its widest. Fire polished rim and polished pontil. This vase may be referenced in Loetz Bohemian Glass 1880 - 1940 by the Neue Gallerie on pg 69. It is described as being from the first series of Art Nouveau designs and belonging to one of the two oldest Phanomen genres. The form, similar to Production Number 7472, may be referenced through similar examples on pg 80 in volume 1 and pg 24 of volume 2 of Loetz Bohmisches Glas by Ricke.
