This is a zitan plaque. It depicts a woman holding a ruyi (two head of it are seen) on front, the back has two phoenixes The patina is very good, the piece is probably early Qing. Condition is excellent. There are two holes at the top for running a cord through it to hang.

this is a very attractive zitan frame with a marble inset. The zitan frame is currently complete but not put together. The buyer can have it sent whole or as is. The marble stone shows mountains in the background with clouds. It is not original to the frame but fits it very well. The brass hook is original to the frame. This ensemble would have graced the wall of a scholar's study.

Haku Maki (1924-2000), the important modern Japanese Printmaker, began doing prints with persimmons as the main theme in the early 1970s, with the first one probably done in 1971. This print, Persimmon D, was done in 1977, as part of a series of Persimmon images in that year, beginning with Persimmon A and running through Persimmon G. Haku Maki (1924-2000), the important modern Japanese Printmaker, began doing prints with Ceramics as the theme seriously in the late 1970s and continued through around 1990. Most of the ceramics were of wine bowls and teacups. They were all realistically produced--they looked like the actual ceramic. This print is a red tokurri: it is not dated. This is a truly beautiful zitan flower vase. It is a very stylized lotus leaf: it comes up from the bottom in a long slender fashion and forms the stylized folded in leaf at the top. There are five large folds at the top. A great piece. Middle Qing glorious patina. Excellent condition.
