This is a compleat kit for a young scholar to use: all the scholars' objects one could imagine and all the basic measuring devices one could imagine. Probably assembled in the early days of the 20th Century and has a Great Shanghai feel to it. The top is fitted and appears un-open-able. But it slides back revealing a little area to store the key. The key opens the box where it should, then all can be seen. Very clever.
