A very rare and unusual snuff bottle made from still unknown substance, with its own custom made modern wooden stand. Dates from the late Qing Dynasty, circa 1850-1900. This is a large North China flat bean, dried and hollowed out. With seeds inside which crackle when shaken. I have never seen any other snuff bottle made of this leather-like substance. The bottle is very well hollowed out and has a a coral colored stopper. Excellent condition with no chips or cracks – fine old patina.
