China Antique Huanghuali Large Brushpot early Qing
This is a large carved huanghuali brushpot of the late Ming early Qing period. This brushpot was carved in the 18th Century. A master took a large log of very good huanghuali wood, hollowed it out and carved the pot. There is one delicate line across the top, setting the wood off nicely. It is duplicated and then some by three lines at the bottom. The pot is slightly curved from top to bottom. There are guilier (ghost eyes) from the natural grain of the huanghuali. H 14.5 cm width 14 cm
