BAA (soul) continues to live on earth that could haunt and do suffer those who have committed evil against the deceased, which makes it particularly feared. It is inseparable from the shape to be, which explains to keep its BAA, the deceased had to keep his human form (hence the need for the momification). The BAA was represented in the shape of a bird man headed.
