Framed "Blanket Toss" signed "Ken Lisbourne, Pt. Hope, Alaska, 80, 15/500". Nalukataq is the spring whaling festival of the Inupiaq Eskimos of Northern Alaska and is characterized famously by the Eskimo Blanket Toss. Five pelicans on a bridge with what looks like persimmons in their mouths. The pelicans and bridge are made of celluloid going over water depicted in wood. A charming and unusual image wonderfully executed. Japanese, c. 1940. 6 1/2" long x 3/4" deep x 1 1/2" tall . Pelican: 1/2" tall x 1/4" wide.
Ricksaw driver with a woman passenger. Amazing detail of the rickshaw, the driver's hat and Japanese lady in kimono holding a bag and probably a fan (missing) in the other hand. The back of the ricksaw seat has a scenery image of Mt. Fuji. The wheels are articulated. Celluloid, Japanese, c. 1940. 3" x 3", figures are about 2".
