The cover has an elegant openwork of leaves with a likeness of a cicada hovering on top. Delicate and superbly executed. Japanese, Meiji period. Measures 4" H x 6" W (2 1/4" opening).

Two shades of bamboo, plaited diagonal weave, double sturdy woven rim, whole strip of bamboo with node serves as feet reinforcing the bottom part of the basket. Could be used as an umbrella stand but does not have a metal lining at the bottom. Very beautiful patina and very good condition, no losses. Japanese, Taisho period. 24" high x 12" diameter
