A Chinese fan with painted banner of " 1000 faces" type and pierced carved bamboo sticks in a glass fronted case.It is a good example of its kind but it has been a challenge to get good images on account of the glass reflection.age: C. 1890. size: 10 1/4 inches (26cm) length of sticks. condition: very good, we have not examined the back of the fan but we would sell it with or without its box.

A Chinese mother of pearl veneered box, the hinged cover with a central panel of applied raised decoration of engraved flora and foliage. A gabled surround separates it from a border containing shaped cartouches terminating in a rope-pattern edge.The sides of the box have similar design. The interior and base are lined with fabric. A magnificent Chinese box for gaming counters veneered in mother of pearl , the cover with a carved panel depicting birds in dense foliage, a vacant cartouche and a border enclosing oblong vignettes.The sides are similarly decorated and rope work edging completes the scenes.There are five boxes inside for the counters and nine have survived.We date this box to C. 1750 both on account of style and the pattern of "valentine" decoration on four boxes and the counters. Chinese pearl shell gaming counters, very finely engraved on the one side with a vignette of figures outdoors and on the reverse with an elaborate, entwined monogram. They are in two different shapes and number altogether 62. Two features set these counters above the average type: each counter is engraved with a different scene, so there are a lot of images.
